 On Thursday, 27 January 1983, we left Nelson and drove to Moetapu Bay in the Marlborough Sounds, where the Hockey family – our oldest friends in New Zealand (Heather and I met Burn and Margaret three days after we arrived in the country) – were on holiday, and we joined them there for three days.
