Getting there: When we left Wellington, New Zealand was at Alert Level 2 in the country’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the disease was contained, there was still a risk of community transmission. As a result, “face coverings [were] required on public transport and aircraft.” However, I am sure that Heather was smiling when I took this photograph of her during our flight from Wellington to the Chatham Islands. (Incidentally, it’s also worth noting that when we returned to Wellington six days later, the Covid-19 Alert Level for all the country bar Auckland had dropped to Level 1, and that – as a result – face masks were no longer mandatory on public transport.) |
