I loved the name of the road that went off at right angles to the main road at this spot – as can just be seen between the bus and the wooden telegraph pole, the road’s name was Peni Lane. Whenever I saw the sign, I swear I could hear the Beatles singing, “Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes …”. |
