Cycling in Tasmania, 2006

Thursday, 5 January 2006 – At the Spiky Beach Conservation Area: One of the main reasons I’d come to Tasmania eleven months after Stuart’s, Charlie’s, and my father – Bobby – had died, was to scatter his ashes in the same place. After arriving in Hobart, I’d collected Bobby’s ashes from a funeral parlour, and I carried them in one of my pannier bags while I cycled from Hobart to Swansea. When Stuart and I arrived at the beach early in the morning of 5 January, the bay was as beautiful as ever.
