 This painting has pride of place in the Delaware Senate chamber. It depicts a group of Delaware legislators formally ratifying the United States’ constitution. They did so on 7 December 1787, and Delaware thus became the first state in the union to ratify the constitution that had been drafted in Philadelphia three months earlier. |
