 After leaving the NJ state highpoint, I walked back to my rental car and took this photograph of a small stunted conifer next to the car park. My High Point, New Jersey, visit was not over, though: I drove down the hill, stopped at a spot near Lake Marcia, changed into my running gear, and set off on a 62-minute run, which included running back up to and around the High Point monument. As a result, High Point, New Jersey, became the first – and, to date, only – US state highpoint I’ve been to twice and, what’s more, it’s the only highpoint I’ve ever run up!
