 At 2:05 pm – roughly five hours after leaving the Iris Burn Hut – we reached Moturau Hut. Jiff (with the blue pack-cover) and Heather (with the red cover) can be seen on the right-hand edge of the picture making their way up the meadow in front of the hut. We had booked to spend the night at the hut, but when we unpacked in order to have lunch, Heather and I discovered that we’d accidentally (and stupidly) left our plates, mugs and eating utensils behind at the Iris Burn Hut. Without them, eating dinner was going to be a problem … |
