An attempt on Lobuje East, 1991

Sunday, 6 October 1991 – From Seti to Junbesi: Before we left Seti, I took this photograph looking back down in the direction of Kinja (which is not visible in this picture). Seti is roughly half-way up a long climb from the Likhu Khola river (at about 1,600 metres) to the Lamjura La (that is, the Lamjura pass), which is 3,530 metres above sea-level and is the highest pass in the Solu region. We had stayed in Seti because, as Ryohei Uchida bluntly put it in his book, Kathmandu to Everest, “since you cannot complete the climb by the end of the day, you should stay over in Seti.”
