 Monday, 21 October 1991 – From the foot of the Cho La pass to our Lobuje East base camp: Looking directly across at Lobuje East, the small light brown meadow in the middle of the picture about one-sixth the way up from the bottom was where we established our Lobuje East base camp. The summit of Lobuje East is 6,119 metres above sea-level; our base camp was at 4,880 metres: a vertical kilometre-and-a-quarter below our goal. |
