Friday, 25 October 1991 – From our Lobuje East base camp to Dingboche: This is a still from Dave’s video about our Lobuje East expedition. Among the comments I made when he interviewed me before he left base camp was the observation that “we were not given the experienced climbing Sherpas we were promised and [as a result] we never had any hope of getting to the top of Lobuje East.” Nevertheless, I pointed out that among our expedition’s “good points” was “undoubtedly the company. Nine people who’d never met before got on fantastically.”
