An attempt on Lobuje East, 1991

Saturday, 26 October 1991 – From Dingboche to Thyangboche: We left Dingboche at 9:45 am and headed down the true right bank of the Imja Khola river. This picture was taken when we stopped for “elevenses”. From left to right are Rinzing, Jon, Mike, Geoff, Ralph, Eric (who’s displaying a large yak pat), Rod, and Diane. I was taking the photograph, Dave was on his way to Kathmandu, and – significantly – Tenzing wasn’t in the picture because he had raced down to Namche Bazar in an attempt to sell the Scottish climbers’ rope that he'd purloined.
