 Saturday, 26 October 1991 – From Dingboche to Thyangboche: The monastery at Thyangboche is one of the best-known in all Nepal. This photograph of it was published as Plate 13 in The Ascent of Everest, John Hunt’s book about the 1953 Everest expedition. The original monastery at Thyangboche (which is also known as Tengboche) was built in 1916 but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1934.
