Climbing Mt Mansfield |
 Once I reached the car park at the end of road, I paused before I put my boots on and – by balancing my camera on a large boulder – I took this photograph of myself at the start of the climb. I was at an altitude of 3,850 feet / 1,173 metres above sea-level, and to reach the summit of Mt Mansfield, had to ascend only 650 feet / 193 metres during a hike that was 1.4 miles / 2.25 kilometres in each direction. |
