Climbing Mauna Kea |
 As we had time on our side, Eric and I couldn’t see the point of climbing Mauna Kea when we couldn’t see the mountain’s stunning scenery. Eric and I thus shelved plans for an early ascent of Mauna Kea. While we were waiting for the weather to improve, we decided instead to see something of the “Big Island”, and what better way to start than by paying homage to Pele – the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes? Consequently, on Tuesday, 4 February 2014, we headed south and made our way towards the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. |
