Climbing Mont Blanc


I was interested to see that several members of the Zurbriggen family were buried in the church graveyard. However, the name is not uncommon in Switzerland and I suspect this family probably isn’t directly related to Mattias Zurbriggen, who climbed Mt Cook (the highest mountain in New Zealand) in 1895 and whose name now graces one of the mountain’s main ridges.
