 In the late afternoon, while I was driving south-east on US federal highway 78, thunder, lightning and rain led me to pull off the freeway at Winfield, Alabama, and thus, somewhat inadvertently, the Hampton Inn in Winfield became basecamp for my “assault” on Mt Cheaha.
