Mt Sunflower, Kansas

The day after I visited Mt Sunflower, I drove east along the I-70 interstate highway to Abilene, Kansas, where Dwight D. Eisenhower was brought up. The Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum are there, and – as result – I spent 24 hours in Abilene. This is a statue of Eisenhower, who initially achieved international prominence as supreme commander of the allied forces during the Second World War’s D-Day landings.
