Portuguese Caminos de Santiago


Day 18 (Saturday, 14 October 2017) – Vila Praia de Âncora to Viana do Castelo (we walked 18.7 kilometres / 11.6 miles): Back on the GR1 after getting lost and detouring up to a main road (namely, the N-13) and back in an attempt to try to find out where we were. As the author of a guide to the GR1 says, “I was constantly finding contradictions between the information I had, usually derived from the regional walking organisations and what I found on the ground … official information sources are not always kept up to date.”
