 We left the Chimanimani Mountain Hut at 10:30 am on Tuesday, 12 July 1960, and headed back down Long Gully. Phil Murray – the President of the Mountain Club of Salisbury – invited Richard and me to join him and the other club members for “a huge lunch (six courses and wine)” at the Melsetter pub. After we had eaten “till we could eat no more”, I took this photograph looking back towards the Chimanimani mountains from the grounds of the hotel. |
