Climbing Mt Zeil



The entire section of the Tanami Road that we travelled on is sealed, but for the vast bulk of the time the seal is only one lane wide, except where there are flood plains, when the tarred portion of the road has been widened (as is shown near the centre of this photograph), and – very occasionally – when there’s an overtaking lane. Driving on the Tanami Road is easier and less tiring than driving on central Africa’s “strip roads” was in the 1950s, but a similar road rule is relevant in both cases …
