Climbing Mt Zeil

After another hour-and-a-half, we were back in spinifex country. On Mt Zeil, however, not only was there considerably less spinifex than we’d encountered six days beforehand on Mt Woodroffe, but Eric and I were also better prepared for it. Eric had bought a pair of soccer shin pads to protect his legs, while I’d lined the insides of my gaiters with surgical tape. As a result, after the climb we found that we’d escaped comparatively unscathed from the fields of spinifex.
