We returned our four-wheel drive rental vehicle, had lunch and a shower, and late in the afternoon I caught a flight from Alice Springs north to Darwin. I was initially disappointed that I didn’t have a left-hand window seat and thus couldn’t see the setting sun. However, the view east from my right-hand window seat turned out to be sublime. For ten minutes – from 6:15 to 6:25 pm – the plane flew through a rainbow-like spectrum of colour: what a wonderful way to end a superbly successful climbing trip.
