Climbing Mt Kosciuszko |
 We left our hotel at 9:15 am on Monday, 4 January 2010, and went to the Thredbo Information Centre, where Eric pointed out our goal for the day – the 2,228 metre / 7,309 foot high summit of Mt Kosciuszko. Our route to the top of Mt Kosciuszko was simple: from the Information Centre we hiked up Merritts Nature Track for 5 kms to the Kosciuszko express chairlift terminal, and then trekked north-west for 6.5 kms along the Kosciuszko Walk to reach the summit of the mountain. We returned via the same route (making the day's hike a total of about 23 kms or 14.25 miles). |
