Climbing Mt Ossa
It was appropriate that the first of Australia’s eight state and territory highpoints that I tackled was Tasmania’s Mt Ossa. My parents lived in Tasmania for roughly 40 years, I spent three years at the University of Tasmania, and my wife – Heather – is a Tasmanian. The precise symbolism of the lion on the Tasmanian state flag is unknown, “other than to indicate historical ties with England.”
