However, after twenty minutes or so, the track climbed up a steep escarpment – from a base of about 640 metres / 2,100 feet above sea-level (a.s.l.) to roughly 960 metres / 3,150 feet a.s.l. – to the saddle between Mt Oakleigh (to the north) and Mt Pillinger (to the south).
