Black Mountain, Kentucky
|
The United States Coast and Geodetic Survey benchmark at the top of Black Mountain – like the plaque in memory of local cable television pioneer, William Risden – gives the height of Black Mountain as 4,139 feet (i.e., 1,261 metres). That’s six feet – or two metres – lower than the official height of the mountain (as shown, for example, on the road sign on the main highway). |
