 Introduction: My parents and younger siblings migrated to Tasmania in June 1962. Likewise, I migrated to Hobart in January 1964 and for the next three years was a student at the University of Tasmania. I hugely enjoyed my time in Tasmania; they were certainly among the three best years of my life. I got a good degree and was successful in student politics.
