Cycling in Tasmania, 2006 |
 Introduction: However, I returned to Tasmania ten-and-a-half months later. I flew into Hobart on Saturday afternoon, 31 December 2005, and stayed with friends, Robert and Fae Bown. This photograph of the three of us wasn’t taken then. It was taken in January 2021, and we’re laughing at the fact that I had to prop my camera on a tall pile of books at one end of a large table, trigger the automatic timer, and then race round to the far side of the table where Fae and Robert were standing. Like Bobby, Robert was an anaesthetist, and they’d worked together when Bobby was Director of Anaesthetics at the Royal Hobart Hospital and Robert was a young doctor. It was the start of a wonderful family friendship. |
