Cycling in Tasmania, 2006 |
 Sunday, 1 January 2006 – In Hobart: I had come to Tasmania in order to do something I’d never done before. I wanted to go on a multi-day bike ride. My plan was to cycle from Hobart to Coles Bay – specifically, from Fae and Robert Bown’s house to my brother Stuart and his wife Patricia’s holiday house. The day after I arrived in Tasmania and the day before I began my ride, I finalised the route I would take, and (as it was the height of the Christmas-New Year holiday season) I pre-booked three nights’ accommodation. On Day 1, I would ride from the Bown’s house in Hobart to Richmond; on Day 2, I would ride from Richmond to Triabunna; on Day 3, I would ride from Triabunna to Swansea; and on the fourth and final day of my ride, I would cycle from Swansea to Coles Bay. |
