 Day 5 (Monday, 8 September 2025) – Scraggane Pier to Camp (An Cam): We then walked past a small plot of land where onions were being harvested. Two of the Magharee islands (also known as The Seven Hogs) can be seen in the distance. As our Hillwalk trip notes explained, “the islands were inhabited up until the early 1980s, but now serve only as summer grazing for the livestock of several local farmers. Up until recently, farmers would swim their cattle and sheep across to the islands at low tide, rowing alongside them in traditional currachs or other small boats.” |
