 Day 24 (8 October 1969) – WEST BERLIN: Although a heavy autumnal haze hung over Berlin, from the top of the Goddess of Victory column we could just see the Congress Hall, the former Reichstag building, and – at the far end of the wide boulevard (i.e., 17 June Street) – the Brandenburg Gate. The three landmarks are just visible from left to right in this photograph, and after leaving the column, we visited them in that order. |
