Europe, 1969

Day 26 (10 October 1969) – EAST BERLIN: The World Clock on Alexanderplatz was new when we saw it: the clock had only been erected earlier in 1969. It told (and still tells) the time in cities around the world, and Heather and I were interested to see Melbourne, Sydney, and Wellington named on the clock. In 2015, the reunified German government “declared the clock an historically and culturally significant monument.”
