 Days 35 to 37 (19 to 21 October 1969) – PRAGUE: Looking down Wenceslas Square, you can see why it has been described as more a boulevard than a square. In August 1968 (14 months before I took this photograph), the square was filled with thousands of demonstrators protesting the Russian invasion of their country and the Soviet Union’s attempt to quash Czechoslovakia’s “Prague Spring.” |
