 High country erosion: Poor quality soils, fractured greywacke rock, centuries of burning tussock grasslands, over-stocking, and the introduction of noxious pests such as deer have all contributed to widespread high country erosion in New Zealand, and – not unexpectedly – Four Peaks Station has not been immune from its effects. This hillside scar contains evidence of both old and new slumping. |
