An attempt on Lobuje East, 1991

Monday, 7 October 1991 – From Junbesi to Manidingma: At 7:20 am, we left Junbesi, which is situated at 2,675 metres above sea-level, and climbed up to a ridgeline at 3,040 metres, where we didn’t get our first view of Mt Everest. We then dropped down towards the Beni Khola river, stopping at 10:45 am for lunch “in a pigsty of a place”. Going round clockwise from the hat that’s near the camera, the sleeping beauties in this photograph are Diane, Geoff, Jon, Mike, Dave, Ralph, and Eric.
