 Wednesday, 9 October 1991 – From Bhupsha to Surkhe: Jon had developed an unpleasant cough and, before we left Bhupsha, Dave used his stethoscope to listen to Jon’s breathing. The unsanitary conditions, the increasingly high altitude, and the ever-drier air we were encountering meant that in due course almost all of us were ill at one stage or another. |
