An attempt on Lobuje East, 1991

Friday, 11 October 1991 – From Phakding to Namche Bazar: I was feeling poorly, with a sore throat and flu-like symptoms. Dave put me onto a six-day course of Vibramycin, and I opted not to sleep in Jon’s and my tent. Instead I found a room in the ANU guest house (a name that has nothing, of course, to do with the Australian National University). It didn’t help me. As recorded in my diary, I “slept appallingly badly – not assisted by the sound of rats scurrying across the floor above us throughout the night.”
