Climbing Mt Rainier |
 On Monday morning, 2 July, Eric and I met Melissa Arnot, a Rainier Mountaineering Inc (RMI) guide, and we went for an acclimatisation hike with her on the lower slopes of Mt Rainier. As Eric and I had been climbing on Mt Hood less than a week previously, we were pretty well acclimatised, but our brief hike with Melissa on 2 July was, nevertheless, a useful opportunity to practice some of our snow-craft skills (such as self-arresting and rest-stepping). |
