The Routeburn Track |
 Joy, Keith, Heather, and I left the Routeburn Falls Hut at 8:45 am on Tuesday, 31 December 1996. Evan, however, had left the hut about an hour earlier. Because he’d never been to Milford Sound before, Evan had opted to walk right through from the Routeburn Falls Hut to the Divide in one day and then hitch-hike to Milford Sound. This photograph of Heather on the track between the Routeburn Falls Hut and the Harris Saddle shows how our walk on the last day of the 1996 began under low cloud and mist. |
