Architecture / buildings – Australia: The Sydney Opera House – designed by the Danish architect, Jørn Utzon – was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It has been called “one of the world's most famous and distinctive buildings”, so much so that it was included in a list of the ten best buildings of the last millennium. Striking by day, the opera house is stupendous when it’s illuminated during the annual Vivid Sydney festival (which was being held when I took this photograph on 31 May 2013). |
