 APARTHEID – Population and policies: An African man who cheerfully posed for me when asked if I could take a photograph of him. Even though I took this picture – and the others in this series – fourteen years before Soweto erupted in a youth-led revolt, I am still amazed that I even considered driving out to Soweto by myself to take photographs, and even more amazed by the willingness with which people gladly helped me fulfil my quest. |
