PORTRAITS OF POWER Swedish prime ministers |

The fact that Sweden had only seven prime ministers during the 45 years from 1969 to 2014 is a testament to the stability that characterises Swedish politics (New Zealand, by way of contrast, had 12 prime ministers during the same period). The only Swedish prime minister during the period from 1969 to 2014 that I didn't have an opportunity to photograph was Ola Ullsten, who led a short-lived minority Liberal government in 1978-79 that held just 39 of the 349 seats in the Swedish Riksdag. |
