1944
I was born in London on 12 April 1944. My father’s neat handwriting notes that this picture was taken when I was five-and-a-half months old. I’m pretty sure it was taken when my father, Bobby, visited my mother, Lilian, and me in Devon, to which we’d been evacuated as part of the British government’s World War II attempt to reduce civilian casualties caused by the V-1 “buzz bombs” and V-2 rockets that Germany was raining down on London. |
