Climbing Backbone Mountain, Maryland |
 In order to get to Backbone Mountain, Maryland, from Mt Davis, Pennsylvania, I drove south on US highway 219; west on the I-68 US interstate highway for eight miles / thirteen kilometres; and then south again on US-219. After staying overnight on 5 November 2016 in Oakland, Maryland, I continued driving south on US-219 the following morning, across the state line into West Virginia, and on to the trailhead for the hike up Backbone Mountain.
