 … I wrote down the date, my name, the place I come from, and a brief comment in the summit register. It was clearly international visitors’ day on Backbone Mountain: up until 10:30 am on 6 November 2016, the only people to have signed the summit register were Zafer Balbous from Syria and Nigel Roberts from New Zealand. However, all the time I was hiking up the mountain, at the summit, and hiking down from it, I saw neither Mr Balbous nor anyone else. I had Backbone Mountain to myself. |
