Climbing Mt Bartle Frere, Queensland |
 Eric and I immediately drove our small rental car roughly 70 kilometres / 43 miles south to Mirriwinni, a small town near the base of Mt Bartle Frere. Although the mountain is closer to a major airport than any of the other Australian state and territory highpoints, this is somewhat ironic, because Mt Bartle Frere is probably the hardest and most tiring peak to climb of the eight state and territory summits. |
