Eric and I reached the 1,622-metre (5,321-ft.) summit of Mt Bartle Frere at 11:30 am. It had taken us exactly five-and-a-half hours to get there from the Josephine Falls car park. It was the fifth Australian state and territory highpoint that Eric and I had climbed together, and we were very pleased with our rate of ascent. (Incidentally, my camera was on a small tripod balanced on a rock when I took this photo: we saw no-one else at all while we were on the mountain.) |
