 “Basecamp” for my “assault” on Black Mountain was the Old Mill Inn in Damascus, Virginia. I’d stayed there prior to climbing Mt Rogers, the Virginia highpoint, on 1 November 2015, and happily returned to the inn afterwards, where this bear bearing a “Welcome” sign greeted me. |
