 Day 22 (Friday, 15 October 2010) – Sarria to Portomarín (21.5 kms): At 11:35 am, we reached the marker indicating we had only 100 kilometres to go to get to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. From left to right are Nigel, Heather, Bob, and Peggy. To qualify for an official pilgrim’s compostela – a certificate of completion – from the Catholic church, peregrinos must either have walked 100 kms or cycled 200 kms, so starting a pilgrimage in Sarria is a popular choice for many people. |
