 On my way down, I met this Appalachian Trail “through hiker.” He was from South Carolina, and like most (if not all) Appalachian Trail hikers, he had a “trail name”, or nom-de-plume: his was “Slug bait”! He began hiking the Appalachian Trail in Maine on 3 July, and once he completed his 2,180 mile / 3,508 kilometre hike, he was going to start a job he’d been offered and accepted when he finished university earlier in the year. |
